Well North Coast Electric recently completed a project with Silverdale Electric in Kitsap County that I think we could categorize as government “investing” as opposed to government “spending.”

The old, tired, inefficient lighting at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds Pavilion building was replaced with a new energy efficient system.

In a nutshell here’s the result:

• Energy Savings 68.3%
• Annual Kilowatt hours saved 177,422
• Annual CO2 Saved 241,294 Lbs
• Payback Period 2.9 years
• Annual Savings $14,158
• Annual Return on investment 34.5%

There will also be maintenance cost savings due to the extended lamp life of the new system.

And guess what happens if (or should I say when) the power rates go up??

The annual savings go up with it!
