The Puget Sound Service Centers banded together for their annual golf tournament at Bear Creek Country Club, which this year had a charitable purpose with a twist! For a donation, former Seahawk football player & celebrity golfer Alonzo Mitz hit his famous one-handed drive at the 18th hole and golfers could use their own shot or his shot.
Thank you to TJ Porter for being the single largest contributor donating $1,000 on behalf of SASCO. SASCO has been a leader in electrical construction, consulting, and low-voltage systems technologies for more than 40 years. Visit them at http://www.sasco.com.
Thank you to everyone who played and donated, and thank you to our celebrity golfers Alonzo Mitz and Nesby Glasgow. Mitz is a former college professional player who was a defensive end in the NFL for 7 seasons. He played college football for the University of Florida, and played professionally for the Seattle Seahawks and the Cincinnati Bengals. Glasgow is a former professional football safety who played 14 seasons in the NFL. He attended the University of Washington and was recognized as part of the Century Team at the college.
There are over 280,000 children burned in the US every year. The Burned Children Recovery Foundation serves children who have been burned from all across the United States. They strive to reach out and support not just a burn victim but their families, friends and the general community. They teach the skills needed for a burn survivor to re-enter society and they teach society how to react to burn victims. The biggest lesson for communities is how to open their hearts and understand that victims are still people that need love and acceptance regardless of their outside appearance. The primary goal of the Burned Children Recovery Foundation is to ensure that burn victims live the same full life that so many people take for granted!
