For the past two years, North Coast Electric has been sponsoring 3-day beginning and advanced fiber optics certification level classes through the Fiber Optics Association of America (FOA) to customers interested in learning new skills to enhance their company's capabilities.
This class is great for:
- Beginners or someone who has little or no background in fiber optics because the course starts out with an introduction to fiber optics where the discussions cover topics such as, "What is fiber and how does it work?" and gradually proceeds to hands-on termination and testing of a simple fiber optic network using OTDR's; power meters; and fusion splicers.
- The industrial end-user that has an existing fiber optic plant and wants to learn how to repair, install and replace cable or just wants to learn how to test performance levels and understand what is involved in a fiber optic structured network.
- Contractors eager to keep their existing fiber technicians up to date on the latest in fiber optic connectors, termination techniques and code requirements as well as training on using the latest tools and test equipment in the industry.
- Contractors interested in educating and certifying new technicians to become certified installers.
These Fiber Certification classes have been very popular and we've decided to offer it at least 3 times per year. Our next class will be held in Fairbanks, AK - Jan 4th thru 6th, 2010. We are also planning classes for first quarter 2010 in Oregon and Washington.
