Today, electricity from residential and commercial photovoltaics is marketed to compete with high-priced retail electricity. Some state and federal tax incentives for renewable energy systems are available now to help offset the cost. More incentives such as feed in tariffs and power purchasing agreements, which require utilities to purchase excess power generated by green technologies, are included in pending legislation. All of this points to a market with huge potential that we will be ready to supply when it takes off.
North Coast Electric can currently supply all components for a solar energy installation from the racking system to the photovoltaic panels and everything in between. Even at this early stage, we are receiving inquiries about our solar offerings from current and new customers every day. The general belief is electrical contractors will drive most of the commercial projects. This leaves us in a very good competitive position since electrical contractors are our valued partners. As of this writing we have quoted jobs amounting to over 1.12 megawatts with a total value worth over $3.5 million. We are currently franchised for many premium lines, most of which are made in the USA and preferred in the Northwest.
