Barb Carver and Pete Lemman recently spent an inspirational afternoon at the
Boys & Girls Clubs of King County "Youth of the Year" Awards Luncheon, held at Benaroya Hall. Youth of the Year is the Boys & Girls Club's premier youth recognition program, promoting and celebrating club member's service to the club, community and family; academic performance; moral character; life goals; poise and public speaking ability.
Pete had the opportunity to serve as one of the judges of the 11 honorees from King County. Each honoree, all of which were articulate, compassionate, inspiring high school age youths, gave a short speech. The 2009 Youth of the Year will advance to the state and possibly regional and national level competitions.
Some of the youths had disadvantaged backgrounds, some excelled in all aspects of life, but all had been touched by the mentoring and caring environment of the Boys & Girls Clubs and were giving back as young adults.
North Coast Electric is proud to be involved with such a "positive place" as the Boy & Girls Clubs of King County and the other B & G Clubs within our market areas. Their mission is to "inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens."
