Community Support has always been an important component of NCE's Company Philosophy. The Lemman Family, owners of North Coast Electric have established "children in distress" as a focus for the company overall, and they encourage each of our local Service Centers and our Associates to seek out local charities with a similar focus.
It was a cold and cloudy July 12th when NCE gathered along with 30 athletes and celebrities to participate in the 5th Annual Moyer Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament, held at the beautiful Tumble Creek Golf Course at Suncadia, WA. The Moyer Foundation, a Seattle based charitable organization founded by Jamie Moyer, ex-Seattle Mariner and current Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, and his wife Karen, recently celebrated the Moyer Foundations' 10th anniversary. The Moyer Foundation's charter is helping "children in distress', aligning well with NCE's community support mission.
In the past 10 years The Moyer Foundation has put together an impressive body of work:
- The Gregory Fund: An initiative to raise awareness and funds for early cancer-detection research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
- Camp Erin: The largest nationwide network of bereavement camps for children and teens ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of someone close to them.
- Camp Mariposa: The first-of-its-kind program designed to help meet the needs of children and teens facing the difficult challenges associated with an addicted or co-dependent family member.
The NCE Team of John Carver, Scott Marsh, Dave Parton and Mike Miller survived the cold weather, enjoyed the course and the warm hospitality of Damon Huard, ex Husky QB and retired NFL player, our designated celebrity (boy did he draw the short straw!). NCE looks forward to continuing its support of The Moyer Foundation. For more information about The Moyer Foundation or to donate go to www.moyerfoundation.org.
